Why is it always so hard to find an idea?
I've always wanted to build something genuinely useful to people. I think that's what pulls most of us into software engineering (at least I hope so).
But starting is hard, for me especially. I've spent countless days wondering what to build: how can I help people, how can I leave a mark on someone's day-to-day life? There's no easy answer or guide, at least none I've found, and most of the advice out there didn't fit me.
I tried following some of it. The most popular advice is to solve a pain point from your own daily life. The trouble was that I didn't really have one, and the ones I did have were already covered by existing apps. So what then?
The answer came out of my own bad luck. I was born prone to anxiety, and it's very easy for me to find something to worry about, especially my health: the idea that I have some incurable disease, or something like that. So I started seeing a psychiatrist.
That's what created the need: a convenient notes app where I can write down my own thoughts and my session notes, with an engine that connects them to each other and to everything I've written before. That's how recall was born.
I hope it helps someone with the same need. That's what makes every developer happy :)
